25 years ago today, April 10, this extraordinary 46 year-old man, Tiger Woods, was a young man of 21 who won the greatest golf tournament ever, The Masters. I was there in Augusta, GA and it was absolutely electrifying! To see him crush the race barrier in golf and show everyone what extraordinary hard work and dedication could give you was a gift for all of us watching.
Today, he crushed the human barrier again after competing in the Masters after a horrific car accident 14 months ago, being told by the doctors that he probably would have great trouble walking, if at all. He almost lost his right leg. The Masters is more than 4.5 miles in length and these golfers walk it for 4 days, hitting golf balls with all their might under enormous mental and emotional duress. The fact that Tiger Woods was able to compete in such pain was just mind boggling. He taught me what we are capable of – extraordinary feats when we are in our passion, in our zone. Finding our lifetime gifts and talents of passionate living allows us to contribute to our world at large and the personal lives around us.
The photo below is of Tiger walking off the 18th hole TODAY after completing this non-human feat of perseverance. Enjoy!
